If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse, at least 6 weeks before you travel, to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to contact us immediately you are aware you are travelling abroad as you will need to complete a travel questionnaire. depending on where you are travelling to, you may require travel vaccines. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Once you have completed the travel questionaire and returned it to us, the Practice Nurse will phone you to make an appointment, if it is necessary for you to have some travel vaccines.
WE REQUIRE 6-8 WEEKS NOTICE IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT REQUIRE TRAVEL VACCINES this is to ensure we have sufficient availability of appointments for travel vacccinations. (Priority will always be given to patients that are unwell) . If you do not give 6-8 weeks notice you will have to obtain travel vaccinations from a travel clinic who will charge you a fee.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
